The flipped classroom serves as an alternative method of class instruction to students and teachers that complements our growing technological society. This method provides students with prerecorded video lectures, and changes what traditionally occurs in a classroom. The textbook states that "the teacher's role changes from 'sage on the stage' to 'guide on the stage.'" The flipped classroom integrates a variety of hardware, software, websites (such as YouTube and online class blogs), networks, etc. in order to expand the components of student learning. Though there is still research that needs to be done regarding this new system, there are undoubtedly many benefits to the flipped classroom

Open education expands what you would find in a classroom and makes it readily available outside of a typical school environment. Open education is continuing to grow due to its convenience in our society, and there is a wide variety of websites that serve this purpose. For instance, OER Commons provides a database of lesson plans, research, modules, and more that can be shared across the world. Teachers like to use this method because there are multiple tools and resources that can be used, and this allows them to test what works best for their particular students. This provides a sense of individuality among users, and they can make modifications based on their individual preferences.
I really enjoyed working on both of the recent PowerPoint assignments. I believe I learned a lot from them, and I feel more confident in my capabilities now. Before last week, I never knew how it was possible to create interactive games, quizzes, etc. on PowerPoint, and it, surprisingly, is not as difficult as I believed it to be. Both assignments helped me improve my formatting skills and how exactly I should present information on slides or in the speaker's notes. However, I felt like it was very tedious to add the all the actions in interactive PowerPoint assignment, and I wish there was a more convenient way to accomplish this. Also, I did not enjoy the part of Assignment 5 where we had to record our voice. I felt like it was very awkward, and my voice sounded very uninterested and monotonous (because I was basically talking to myself), which is unlike how I would actually sound while teaching. But overall, I think both assignments helped the majority of the class significantly with their PowerPoint skills.
